Bad Weather Leads to a New Olive Oil | Health Food Glass Bottle

These first few weeks of the year is olive oil magic time. The new harvest oils are released into the world—buy direct from the producer if you can or be mindful of harvest rather than the expiration dates listed on the bottle. Taste alongside different varietals or regions, taste it against that old, oily bottle that’s been lingering in the back of the pantry. You don’t need professional training to taste the nuances of olive oil, the peppery intensity that comes from picking under-ripe fruit or the buttery soft flavors of letting them mature fully.

The Vida Pura menu will offer all kinds of organic juices and superfood smoothies including some with papaya and cactus fruit, ingredients that represent the Torres family’s Latin heritage. Parfaits, açai bowls, and vegan salads, sandwiches, and hot soups will also be available. A soft opening is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8.

The cinematographer primarily employed three Arri Alexa Mini cameras, recording 3.2K ProRes: 4444, paired with Arri/Zeiss Ultra Prime 10mm to 135mm lenses. He also carried Angénieux Optimo lightweight zoom lenses in his kit, but for these low-light sequences, he says he wanted the look provided by the Ultra Primes. “As soon as we knew we were going into the first part of the season with a lot of low-light candlelight, I really wanted to lean into that. We shot tests with different lenses in different low-light scenarios, but circled back on Ultra Primes because they're fast, beautiful, sharp and modern. Yet the way they flare, halo and scatter light around is a little soft, playful and dynamic.

“People love them, and we didn’t have anything like that in this area,” Tammy said. “We thought it would be perfect.”

There’s also an increasing trend for olive oil producers to pick early in the harvest, while the olives are still green. In doing so, the producer captures the vibrant, robust flavors and aromas and higher levels of healthy antioxidants of the olive, but dramatically decreases their yield. A later harvest yields more oil, but it’s more “delicate, sweet and ethereal, and it will have a shorter shelf life,” Coleman said. Lower yields are costly to the producer and an important factor in the higher cost of olive oil.

The drinks company partnered with social media influencers around the world to initiate a global conversation on what ‘love’ means. The campaign reached an estimated 400,000 people, engaging with over 11,000 consumers who shared their different interpretations and experiences of love.

“There is a wave. It’s happening around us. It's happening as we speak,” Cohen said. “And that makes me feel really hopeful. . . . I’m watching a change happen in my lifetime, which is incredible.”
